Car accident kills 2 after driver over-corrects

On Behalf of | Feb 4, 2020 | Civil Litigation |

It can be difficult to keep a vehicle under control in certain conditions. Unfortunately, if a driver tries to correct the uncontrollable movements of a car, over-correction could occur, and a car accident could take place. Even a seemingly minor over-correction could have fatal outcomes.

It was recently reported that an accident in Ohio claimed the lives of two individuals. Apparently, neither individual was wearing a seat belt when the single-car accident took place. Reports indicated that the man driving the SUV apparently over-corrected, which caused the vehicle to leave the roadway and strike a guardrail before going airborne. It then hit an embankment and overturned. Both the driver and a passenger were ejected from the vehicle during the incident.

This crash resulted in fatal injuries for both parties. The driver was reported as being 38 years old, and the passenger was reported as being a 39-year-old woman. Additional information on the accident was not given in the report, but authorities are likely still investigating. More information could be released at a later time.

Though this car accident resulted in both the driver and passenger losing their lives, it may be possible for the family of the passenger to still seek compensation for damages resulting from the incident. They could file a wrongful death claim against the estate of the driver considered at fault. If they feel that taking such action could suit their circumstances, they may want to look into this legal option more thoroughly and learn what damages they may seek under Ohio law.
